hi my name is Anthony Gould and I will be
presenting my speech for CWID on the benefits of meditation for college
students in college students are often caught
feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and depression in the long run these mental
issues can create long lasting effects on the brain if not treated. there is a
solution however meditation. this speech will go over the mental health of
college students what is meditation and how meditation can help you. we may all know people who have dealt
with mental illness and research research shows that nearly 1 in 5
University students are affected with anxiety and/or depression these mental
issues can create many problems with concentration awareness and one’s social
life these students that face these issues solutions can be troubling to
find. A possible solution however could be meditation. What exactly is meditation?
meditation is a mental exercise that helps relaxation, focus, and awareness. It
is usually performed by oneself in peace in quiet for any number of time, while
you concentrate on deep breaths. People across the world use meditation to
benefit their lives on the daily and it has proven useful for the people who
study it and perform it. Meditation can help benefit many aspects of your life.
for anxiety it helps by improving your relaxation
meditation can also reduce stress which in turn can help with many things such
as homework and social life it also promotes emotional health by allowing
you to feel better about yourself and your overall self confidence meditation
also does a great job at reducing urges and withdraws from any and all
addictions. meditation can also improve your sleep thus improving your focus and
overall concentration. Okay now personally I think the viewer you the viewer should
go try meditation it can help you in many ways not just anxiety and
depression so I would like to ask you to try but go try meditate but by sitting
down in a quiet room and concentrating on your breathing for just five minutes
and see how you feel after is worth a try mental health is shown to be a
struggle for many students in college and meditation may help that. it is
proven to help reduce stress, control anxiety, improve sleep, promote emotional,
health and fight addictions. meditation may not be for everyone but for the
people that are willing to try to make a change in their life it may be for them and my references
