Reduce stress and enjoy life to the fullest with Transcendental Meditation

[Jennifer Aniston] It just… it’s like a kickstart for your
day, it just centers you, and things… …your stress levels are just down and you find yourself interacting in the world much easier and better and… …in a calmer way. And there’s just a peaceful joy that sort of comes over and I just know that if I… if I go through a phase where I slip off I feel the difference. [Jim Carrey] Years ago when I was doing ‘Andy Kaufman’ I learned how to meditate and it’s been very valuable. It’s been around for a while but I mean, I think on a widespread level
it’s being picked up by everybody now. It’s being understood as something more
than some kind of religious, nutty thing. It’s a system of teaching yourself
how to get into a state of relaxation that affects your entire life and the quality of your life, and… I do it, I’ve done it for a while and I recommend it highly. Now, I hear you’re also into transcendenta-..
transcendent-… how do I say that, Transcendental Meditation! I can’t say it but, yes but you can do it. [Heather Graham] I’ve been doing it for a long time because I actually worked with David Lynch on Twin Peaks a long time ago and he
told me about it so I started doing it and I love meditation, it’s amazing. What does it bring to your life? Well I’m kind of high-strung so you know it’s easy to get
anxious but it really just calms you down, it helps you find that peaceful
place inside yourself so whenever your life is going a bit crazy it just reminds you to be really centered, I guess. I’ve heard so many people say that it totally changes their life. Yeah, I meditate as well. [Martin Scorsese] The thing about it is that there’s a kind of a peacefulness that I
don’t think I’ve ever achieved before, really! And I must say it, you know, it has
made a major difference because particularly in the morning… particularly in the morning, because… the amount of things that have to be done and the things you have to worry about and this… suddenly it just comes together and you stop. I find that I can’t do without it, in that way, literally. I remember doing a film called ‘Hugo’, and it’d take about an hour to get there to the studio, but in the morning I would get up maybe 45 minutes earlier to do meditation before I was able to face
that set! If I don’t do it I tend to waste the time, the energy, the franticness and things can be very, very frantic and that 20-25 minutes, whatever that is is a godsend. How has the practice of TM over the years helped you? [Lena Dunham] For me what meditation does at the most root level is bring me back to zero and remind me of, sort of my most natural state. Something I like about acting, when I’m in character, something I enjoy about it is that I have a break from my problems I’m just engaging with somebody else’s and so I switch into this zone where my stresses have disappeared and even if I’m… even if I’m acting through something
that’s really painful and intense it’s not what I’m dealing with the rest
of the day, it’s a break and meditation sort of has a similar function. First season of Girls I was so busy and so stressed that I actually wasn’t
meditating on set and second season was when I did start meditating on set and everything changed for me. [Clint Eastwood] I’m a great supporter of Transcendental Meditation. I’ve been using it for almost 40 years now and I think it is a great tool for anyone to have and to be able to utilise as a tool for stress and stress of course it comes with almost every business. I think it’s a great tool. I think there’s enough studies out there
that show that Transcendental Meditation or ‘TM’ as we all call it, is something
that could benefit everybody. I think you’ll find it’s a great, great system
to use in life in general otherwise why would I have been doing it all these years, almost half of my life.
