Minute Meditation: Grounding

Minute Meditation: Grounding

– Hi everyone. Melissa Carter here again,
Associate Director of Global Spiritual Life and Head of Mindfulness Education and
Programming. Are you ever walking around the city or on the subway and
really feeling anxious, or stressed, or a little bothered by all the chaos
and energy of New York City? Well today we’re going to do a
one-minute grounding meditation to help you through that. If you’re walking
or sitting—it doesn’t matter. Your breath is always available
for you to visit. So sitting, eyes closed—go for it. Walking down the street?
Please try this as well. We’re gonna take a deep inhale
in through our nose Hold it at the top and
exhale through our mouth. And again, in through the nose. Holding at the top. Exhaling through the mouth. And on the exhale I invite you to envision the breath moving into your feet,
pushing that breath all the way down into your feet, grounding you
where you are back in your body, out of the chaos and the noise. In through the nose. Holding at the top. Exhale through the mouth. Envisioning the breath moving
down into your feet. One more round on your own. Continuing to use this breathing
pattern as many times as you need til you begin to feel centered again. Remember your practice is
always available to you. Stay mindful everyone,
see ya next time.
