Meet Neurologist Christopher Gottschalk, MD, FAHS

– We see the full range of conditions that cause headaches of
various kinds and facial pain. Migraine attacks are
caused by sensitization, overactivity of the
trigeminal nerve in the head that makes you sensitive to light and noise, and maybe smells and all of the things that go along with it. People come in saying they’ve been treated for sinus headaches for years, for tension headaches for years. And almost invariably, they don’t respond. Is it robbing you of years of life, or is it robbing you of
days of quality of life? When you do that, migraine jumps up to the top of the list. What got me into this and in a sense what keeps me in it is that yeah, that experience of providing empathy for people and validation. I mean, that’s why I went into medicine, is I wanted to actually help people. Don’t sell yourself short, I think that’s really the bottom line. If you have a condition that gets in the way of normal life,
you deserve attention, you deserve a good
evaluation, you deserve help.
